DTN COMMENTS: A few bids are now on the table in parts of Nebraska this
morning, but asking prices are still not fully established. Packer
inquiries will improve as the day progresses. Yesterday a few live bids
were reported in Kansas and Iowa at $253. Beef cutouts are expected to be
lower with light to moderate box movement.
For the period of May 15 to May 21, net beef sales of 32,900 MT for 2026
were down 5 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior
4-week average. Increases were primarily for Mexico (19,500 MT), Japan
(3,500 MT), South Korea (2,300 MT), China (1,800 MT), and Guatemala (800
MT). Exports of 33,500 MT were down 2 percent from the previous week and
8 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily
to Mexico (14,700 MT), Japan (5,300 MT), South Korea (3,200 MT), Colombia
(2,500 MT), and China (2,200 MT).
